LA JOLLA,
Calif. - September 6, 2001 - Wireless connectivity experts
Sensoria Corporation and Destiny Media Technologies, Inc.
(OTCBB: DSNY), leaders in developing easy-to-use tools and
enabling technologies to distribute digital media via the
Internet, announced an application partnership today at DEMOmobile
2001 in La Jolla, Calif. - an executive conference focused
on the products and technology shaping the mobile and wireless
marketplace.
Under
the partnership agreement, Destiny Media will provide its
digital music content to drivers via the new Sensoria Telematics
Environment, a standards-based telematics platform with a
simple-to-use interface for delivering authorized, innovative
third-party applications to in-vehicle information systems.
Sensoria will support Destiny's digital rights protection
software, MPE™, a secure media distribution system that provides
e-commerce and digital rights management directly from within
an MP3-compatible multimedia file, on its in-vehicle platform.
The driver
will access Destiny's MPE-protected digital content on the
web and deliver it to the vehicle through a web-based interface
and MPE decryption supported by the Sensoria Telematics Environment.
Media transfer is executed over the conventional cellular
or wireless LAN capabilities of the Sensoria mGate Modular
Vehicle Gateway. Additional media player software will not
be required since MPE's are self-extracting files. To enhance
the user experience, music playback is controlled via the
vehicle's stereo controls.
Destiny
President, Steve Vestergaard comments, "MPE was designed to
be portable and I'm pleased at the opportunity to show how
it can be used to securely transfer music to a car stereo.
Sensoria's Telematics Environment makes it extremely easy
to share digital content between PC and vehicle platforms."
"Destiny's
technology provides a method of delivering digital music to
the vehicle over the Sensoria Telematics Environment with
a model for compensating the originating source, artist and
music label," explains Dave Gelvin, president and CEO of Sensoria.
The Sensoria
Telematics Environment is a standards-based platform for delivering
next-generation telematics services over conventional cellular,
Bluetooth and wireless LAN connections. It enables telematics
service providers to quickly and easily deploy new voice and
data applications remotely to in-vehicle information systems.
It consists of three components: the Telematics Server Suite,
the Telematics Client Platform software, and the mGate Modular
Vehicle Gateway. Sensoria has simplified the complexities
of wireless and proprietary vehicle interfaces into a common
set of APIs and web-based interfaces to support third-party
software development for the Sensoria Telematics Environment.
