VANCOUVER,
Nov. 30, 1999 - Destiny Media Technologies, Ltd (DSNY-pink
sheets) launched a unique marketing program, the "Play Til
it Hertz" Giveaway, with a goal of five million digital music
player downloads over the next three months. Prizes include
a 42" flat screen plasma HDTV, Gateway 700 Mghz computers,
car mp3 players, Nomad portable Mp3 players, Sega Dreamcast
video game consoles and Sony flat screen computer monitors.
Users
receive an entry for registering the player and sending it
to five friends. If the five friends register they receive
an additional 10 entries. For each friend who does the same,
the original sender receives another twenty entries. The contest
is available at http://www.rdmailer.com.
COO, Ed
Kolic explains, "Because our digital music player is so small
and powerful, we find it is common for our users to email
the player to their friends. Through this marketing program,
it's only natural that we reward that customer loyalty and
support with some very cool prizes."
"This
progressive marketing approach is becoming a hot concept in
internet marketing circles. The reason? If something of high
value is provided to consumers in exchange for a minimal effort
on their part, the participation and word of mouth spread
rapidly and exponentially. In our case, if five of our customers
forward the player to five of their friends, they can win
big. At a minimum they will download and have installed the
world's smallest and most versatile digital music player on
the market. As an added bonus, all people who download our
player will receive a free bonus MP3 track from Bill Wyman.
This new release Like a Knife was produced specifically for
release in Mp3 format."
Tucows
is co-sponsoring the giveaway and will be promoting it throughout
their worldwide network. Tucows offers one of the world's
largest free software archives at http://www.tucows.com and
access to digital music content at their recently launched
music site http://www.music.tucows.com .
